try to see whether the card seats on the correct slot. not all PCI slots are gen-2 support. not all slots are the same. some are gen-1, other are gen-2. some are x8 and other x16 - you want to pickup the best combination.
i don't know if your board looks like this but i pickup an example from one of the ASUS manuals.
